As the name suggests, departments within Institutional Effectiveness address issues related to univeristy strategic planning, as well as academic and university assessment and accountability. The offices of Academic Development and Assessment, University Planning and Assessment, and Institutional Research have an essential role in supporting these efforts through Institutional Effectiveness.  In addition, Institutional Effectiveness has a strong commitment to its offices offering faculty and staff professional development activities throughout the school year.

Focus for 2004-2009 Planning Cycle

As we near the midpoint of our University Strategic 2004-2009 Plan, Institutional Effectiveness has worked toward realizing its vision of expanding and improving services in all reporting areas, including Academic Development and Assessment, Institutional Research, Professional Development, and University Planning and Assessment.  The vision is based on the following:

• As we move toward our reaccreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, all university units must address issues related to assessment and accountability, including the monitoring of plan progress, tying assessment to budgeting, implementing student-learning outcomes, and assessing academic programs and the general education core.
• With the university's opportunity to become a Hispanic Serving Institution, growing external mandates and heavier assessment burdens at all university levels, Institutional Effectiveness and reporting offices are expanding their role in providing more and better information to a wider university constituency.
• Division and college strategic plans have requested expanded opportunities for faculty and staff development. The Office of Professional Development and Academic Development and Assessment, as part of a larger cooperative effort to create a Center for Excellence, are appropriate offices to offer and coordinate many of these professional development opportunities to serve ever-growing university needs.
